The Single Biggest Need...

Mission:Teach is an initiative by American, faith-based, non-profit organizations to connect the need for educators in international schools—both commuting and residential—with a supply of people who are qualified to meet that need.

Many are surprised to learn that, in order to keep full-time Christian workers overseas, the single biggest need is for teachers. Cross-cultural service, economic development, and training of nationals stops if there are no teachers to educate the children of those serving in other nations.

There are two classes of partners in Mission:Teach

  • Sending agencies: mission agencies that facilitate the placement of qualified candidates in a situation best suited for them.
  • International schools: schools that become intimately involved in the selection and hiring of candidates that suit their situation.

A Wide Range of Options

Every teacher who has an interest in serving internationally has a vision of, or at least a list of, preferences for the type of environment in which he or she would like to be placed. A wide variety of teaching situations exist, such as:
  • Christian schools for children of full-time Christian workers: can include both commuting and residential students. These schools typically require personnel to support the educational effort by raising full or partial financial support.
  • International schools operated by people of faith: accept a full range of Christian students including children of full-time Christian workers, expatriate workers, and, in some cases, nationals. These schools usually provide a salary for their staff.
  • Nontraditional programs: may include one-room school houses, home schooling situations, and a wide variety of other creative teaching venues.
